On Wednesday the 10th of December 2014, we celebrated the 15 year Mercury Anniversary together with the Christmas party. It was the best party I have been to; there were only jolly faces around me. Our club is fantastic beyond belief!
Our Toastmaster of the Evening was Wendy and she ensured an exciting meeting, all the while demonstrating the qualities of a true moderator. We heard three toast speeches, one CC#10 speech and one entertainment speech.
Dyane dazzled us by delivering a toast for all the old members, for all the future members and most especially for the present members and for living in NOW. I offered a toast for what Mercury means to me, a platform to experiment as speakers, leaders and mentors. Matthias D. offered a Christmas toast.
Renko accomplished his goal for 2014 and delivered his CC#10, thus getting his well deserved Competent Communicator. Wolfram entertained us with and showed us that it is possible to predict the future.
During the break we had a potluck, which actually reflected our club, our internationality and generosity. Among the international foods we had are jambalaya from Louisiana, Romanian Boeuf salad, Berliner boulette, Polish sausage, Taiwanese fan qie chao dan or Indian Samosa.
After the long break, we had a karaoke session moderated by Prateek where we all sung “Jingle Bells”, “The White Christmas” and “We wish You a Merry Christmas”. Afterwards, Marina was our Christmas Elf and moderated a wonderful gifts game, thus at the end each of us went home with a present!
And under the motto, what is an anniversary without a cake, Petronela prepared an amazing cake, which was brought in at the end of the meeting, thus making this party perfect! Happy Anniversary Mercury!
Everything was well prepared and decorated, from background music to Christmas candles, and this contributed in making the evening an unforgettable one!
