Before handing over the Mercury gavel to new club president Diana Cerbu, this year’s club president Dyane Neiman persuaded the audience to look back at her team’s 2013-2014 year. Using facts and figures, it was easy to convince club members of the outgoing board’s outstanding achievements. All 6 board members: Mari (VP Ed), Brent (VP Membership), Khushi (Secretary), Manjana (Treasurer), Stefan (Sergeant at Arms), and Alin Stefaniu (Past President / IT Support) received a Leadership Award designed by the 5-year old artist Dorian who presented the awards in person. On the back of each award is a quote from John Quincy Adams:
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.
Voted favorite speaker of the evening, Violetta started the evening with “Cat Wisdom”, a speech sharing the wisdom we can learn from cats.
Alin’s tenth speech “A Story” ended his 7-year old journey that started in Toulouse and ended in Berlin. Alin gathered important experience as a communicator and leader on his journey by simply saying “yes” at every corner and crossroad. This personal story gave us insights into his motivation to take on so many different challenges within the Toastmaster organization. Congratulations Alin on finishing your Competent Communications Manual and best wishes on your new life chapter.
